Software solutions company Yokogawa Marex took part in a litter pick beach clean from Cowes to Gurnard to reduce waste in the landscape as part of #ACT4SDGs.
On Friday afternoon (24 September 2021), 11 employees from Yokogawa Marex came together to pick up litter from along the Cowes shoreline to reduce waste in the landscape and return it for recycling as part of our transition to a circular economy.
The team donned 100% Organic T-shirts supplied by Teemill (rapanuiclothing.com) and collected an entire bin bag of rubbish in just a couple of hours. Locals were impressed with the team’s efforts, expressing their gratitude with the seafront clean-up. Earlier in the day, 3 employees got up early for a litter pick along their local beach at Totland and 2 colleagues from Ryde cleaned up at Appley beach. In total, 16 employees took part across 3 of the Island’s most well-known beaches.
Divisional Director Wayne Matthews who also participated said: “Staff did a brilliant job, giving up some of their own time to help clean up litter from beaches across the Island, providing a safer and more pleasant environment for everyone to enjoy.”
The beach clean litter picks are being held as part of Yokogawa UK Global Week to #ACT4SDGs (https://act4sdgs.org/profile/YokogawaUK_Ltd). SDGs or Global Goals are a collection of 17 interlinked global goals designed to be a blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all.
