Yokogawa Marex colleague Hagiya san recently completed his Ocean Divers course with local group Wight Dolphins.
Here he tells us all about his experience of learning to dive and of seeing the Island from the sea.
“Scuba Diving has been a very exciting event in UK life for me. It all started when I was introduced to it by my work colleague Chris san. He and his friends from Wight Dolphins were very friendly and welcoming.
“It was very challenging for me to get through the Ocean Divers course that I tried as a member of BSAC. I went through a theory test, a few pool dives, five open water and two boat dives. In open water, I often had trouble adjusting my buoyancy using the BCD. However, with the kind advice of my Wight Dolphins instructors, I was able to master it successfully.
“The experience of watching the Isle of Wight from the water was also fantastic. I still remember being able to enjoy the nature of the Isle of Wight up close, with its many small groups of fish, crabs and blue eels – something I cannot see in Japan.
“I was able to finish the Ocean Divers course in early August. I am now full of appreciation for Chris san and my friends from Wight Dolphins.
“Next, I would like to join BSAC Japan and try diving in Japanese waters such as Okinawa and Izu.”
